Zonguldak Coal-ture Center
Following the Process of the Result for Permanent Perception / Location: Zonguldak, Turkey
The Zonguldak Central Lavuar Area, located in the center of Zonguldak, was demolished in 2002 except for the decantation towers and is not currently used. As a result of the analysis made in the region, Zonguldak existed thanks to coal, but the negative effects of coal were seen on the public in the city, which developed both economically and socially due to coal. Zonguldak is a city that existed as a production city and it continues like this today. Zonguldak Central Lavuar continued its existence as a coal-washing facility. It is planned to establish a cultural production center in order to change the negative impact of coal on the public and change the perception of the people together with the cultural activities that are missing in the region.

Every result has a process. Every process consists of inputs and outputs. Following the process of the result creates a more permanent perception in the mind. Perceptions are created by senses and experiences and are subjective. It is planned that the sensing subjects play an active role in the space. The space perceived simultaneously with the movement and speed of the subject changes as a whole. Because the place rebuilds in every moment. The purpose of the movement is to achieve the goal. The road reaching the target has been mainly designed. An active and open space has been set up, where the process of cultural production can be freely watched until it reaches its conclusion and what is watched changes depending on the movement of the subject. The human being has been taken to the center of the space and freed to determine their own orientation. It aims to create a culture of participation and include human beings in the process. Perception is subjective and it is aimed to create new experiences with the fictional space. The main goal is not to destroy perceptions but to change them. The main goal is that people can use different orientations every time they come and thus rebuild the space each time with the time spent in it.

Culture is also a production. The structure, where not only the result of cultural production, but also the process can be watched and included, theater, movie, music, exhibition productions and all processes together, both perceive the production process of the lavuar with its public circulation, and changes the negative perception as the people start to produce for themselves.

Manifest of the Project

We are reconstructing the city of Zonguldak by purifying it from its passive identity and placing people at the center of the place. Coal may still be an unforgettable reality, but what is important is what comes next. We will live. We produced, we were consumed. Production is a set of processes. Presenting only the result can also be useful, but it provides short-term engagement and experience. Presenting the process of the result takes up more space in the mind and increases the amount of self-realization. The goal is always to reach the goal. The path(s) taken while reaching the goal is also a perception production process. With each movement, images are accumulated and space is reconstructed. Time spent and perspectives are subjective and active. It is no one's job to tell anyone where they come from and where they go. However, possible options can be created and freedom of choice can be left to one's own preferences. The collision of perceptions and experiences forms reference points, and transfer occurs in memory.
